Abhishek Ray, Principal Architect at Matrika Design Collaborative has a degree in architecture and a deep interest in design and technology. He has pursued a research based approach to design which is steeped in processes such as domain research, contextual design principles, architectural sketch concepts, detail development and visualization.

Abhishek spent his childhood growing up in a family of engineers, doctors and artists across multiple cities in India. He owes his multidisciplinary approach to design to the myriad learning experiences that he gained from his formative years as an avid sketcher capturing objects as diverse as his favorite world war aircrafts to the architectural marvels of his city.

As a young design professional Abhishek travelled the world, documented his visits through his photographs and taught design at a school of architecture in Mumbai before starting Matrika Design Collaborative in 2004.

OUR STUDIO

Matrika Design Collaborative is a multidisciplinary design studio based on the principles of developing design synergies between individuals with varied design and development backgrounds in an attempt to create comprehensive design solutions. Our work has been experimental, innovative and strongly grounded in research. Each of our projects offers new challenges in unexplored domains of design and experience. Ever since its conception as a design studio Matrika has shown the ability to render design services for a multitude of project challenges. From Project Management to Product Development we have been constantly implementing cross disciplinary services to gain understanding and expertise. Currently involved in the development of museums and museum spaces around the country our abilities in developing architectural solutions, exhibition strategies, graphic interventions, heritage
development and lighting design are reaching new levels of evolution in the industry. We intend to use these skills in the realm of hospitality, housing, branding and lighting design projects in the future
